Envision Make a Wish meets Big Brothers/Big Sisters, meets the fire department. That is what Project Fire Buddies is. Project Fire Buddies matches us up with a sick kid and then we do what we can to bring a smile to their face. That can range anywhere from visiting them at home on their birthday in the fire engine and playing catch, to taking them to a hockey game, or Great America, or playing a board game.

Schaumburg Fire Buddy, Savanah and her mom, Kelly stopped by the firehouse for a visit and brought a request for capable hands to help their contractor construct a deck around their new pool (gifted by Make A Wish).
An “all call” was sent and Schaumburg Professional Firefighters Association IAFF LOCAL 4092 showed up in full force. The original 4 day project was cut in half from the overwhelming response.
The project will be complete in time for her first official Fire Buddy visit, a firefighter pool party with the Schaumburg Chapter.
